I do the active trader, which is about $80/month and I get $0.19/contract fees. Tradovate charts are awful compared to ToS, so I end up using ToS charts and use Tradovate to place my orders and executions.

If you're especially worried about disconnects, you could use Tradingview as your platform and Tradovate as your broker. Tradovate has a decent web interface that you could employ as a fallback. Re: brokers, AMP is solid and Tradovate is very good. People like Ninjatrader, but with that, you're locked into the Ninjatrader platform, I believe.

Tradovate and TS have pros and cons. TradeStation software is much more powerful. Their desktop app only runs on Windows though. Their mobile app is good although wouldn't really ever want to be trading on a phone. Commission is higher and futures margins are significantly higher.I use tradestation on my windows (on my mac) which works pretty well for my needs. While the charting is not perfect, it’s very easy to learn and is good for day to day trade initiation.
