Edit: I managed to complete the trial for the mercenary my strategy was 3 Topaz brooch and stack as many fireworks with 2 crowbars when there is a glass artifact active in the prismatic. Granted I got lucky on the map rotation when I completed it, so be ready for later stages to appear first when you start.
