I think the Abyssal BL straight (or Orc) is better because you get almost identical STR bonus, but you get the full Magus capstone abilities, as well. Yeah DD is only better if you want better AC from being unarmored and use Scaled Fist as well. Remember that at it's core the magus is a martial class. It can be built as a controller caster. As a staff magus you only get light armor so you need some DEX but a staff can't be finessed so you need STR for hit/dmg. Spells: Horizon Thunder is a decent alternative to Shocking Grasp. It's more versatile (although spell attack w/o spellstrike is going to hurt) and the damage is less swingy, but you lose the persistent damage against metal wearing enemies (I'm assuming the +1 doesn't matter, since your using the spellstrike role).

That is the biggest hurdle for this build imo. You won't be a full gunslinger, so won't have your way reload until later levels to help even out your action economy. And Magus in general is already pretty action starved.
