I bought the 92 when I was 17, I'm 38 now, and they'll bury me in this truck. But it does need some love. She's all original and showing her age. When I priced out everything to rebuild, roller cam, ebl flash 2, throttle body stuff, etc.. to get her a little more pep you're spending as much as an LS swap. That's not even including new heads.

I have a stock 5.3, with stock manifolds. I used about 4" of the OE exhaust off the manifold, for the flanges and O2 bungs. The rest is 2.5 pipe, curved pieces from the scrap bin at an exhaust shop, off a 2010 Camaro. The straight sections are from the parts store. Two Dynomax race bullets.
Picked this truck up cheap as dirt and immediately had a plan for it: All aluminum 4th gen (lh6) 5.3 motor 9.8 to 1 compression with flat tops and 799 heads. Paid 490 out the door at local scrap yard. The stock 80e (whitch I have gone through and installed transgo hd2 kit in) and full float 14 bolt will hold plenty of power.

Going 6L look for a k2500 in the yards that was hooked to a 6.0 for the nv4500. If you are using a 4l60 with your LS engine and the vehicle you are working on had a 4l60 then keep the factory transmission pins and swap them into the LS harness. Speedometer should be one wire output from the 6.0 ecm that connects to one wire from the DRAC box behind the glove box (may have to adjust output from the 6.0 ecm). I'll be posting updates as I get ...I would just get a LS style 4L60E at a minimum. Personally I would ditch the 60E and get a 4L80E though. You could probably trade off the LS1 for an iron 6.0L too, which would work better for the swap. The truck accessories, intake and exhaust manifolds are an easier swap into a truck. I have the 5.3 dropped I with my 4L60 behind it. The guy from LT1 swap.com already did the pcm reprogrammig. Now for the harness !! I have trimmed it down like he stated in the lt1swap.com website.
