I know with JELOS it was (I believe) done by holding down ‘select’ and pressing either volume button. Can’t seem to find any such shortcut for ArkOS. Appreciate any help.

Hold down R3 (the right analog button clicks) and tap power to shut down. I haven't had an issue with ARKOS not loading when I started shutting down like that. But if it did, like others have suggested, just boot up JELOS, shut that down, and switch with ARKOS and it'll boot up fine.
