After it is activated, you only need one push of the set or resume. If you shut down the truck, it starts the whole series again. Mine has worked flawlessly though.

The switch you are checking is the park brake cutout switch. Easy way to check the switch is unplug it and stick a paper clip between the 2 wires and try fast idle. Unplug paper clip vice versa.
