Pregmate pregnancy tests detect human pregnancy hormone in urine. This hormone is produced by the cells of the embryo that will later form the placenta. The level of hormone starts to increase from its basal level of less than 5 miu/ml directly after implantation and doubles each 48 hours during the first weeks of preg.

If you do go with these, keep that in mind and look for line PROGRESSION instead of the standard "is there a second line at all" test. These are conveniently cheap, but you get what you pay for. If your Pregmates appear to be darkening over 2-3 days go get a name brand test to confirm.
