This hammer upgrade is a game changer. Now for many many reasons, with weapons many little rapid fire hits are better then 1 big slow hit. Many hits. Many hits mean more poison stack, more chance to Crit and most importantly more skill recharges. So that's all to say base hammer without any upgrades is pretty trash.
