Feb 5, 2022 · I had read that with a bios update the B450 Tomahawk max motherboard would then be compatible with the Ryzen 5000 series. So I tried to upgrade from a Ryzen 5 1600 AF to the Ryzen 5 5600x. Now my PC just boots straight to the bios. Anyone have any ideas.

The Tomahawk MAX isn't one of those crappy boards though. Not many games are going to max out the 6 cores on the 5600X, and benefit from the 12 cores on the 5900X.

This was my first time flashing BIOS and it was easier than expected. The 5600x runs well on the B450 Tomahawk Max so that saved me the cost of a new mobo. Temps are fine with a CM 212 Evo cooler. I let the cpu boost itself when gaming (no manual overclocks.) If you getting a 5600x, get a B550 if you can, there better than the B450. if you have a B450 just update the bios. If you don't already have a B450 might as well pay a bit more for a B550.
