I just picked up a 12ga 28" poly-choke Remington Sportsman 48 a few weeks ago and she was filthy but in good shape. took her all apart and cleaned all the hardened built up crud paying special attention to the recoil tube/spring.I did a little research today and found out that the Model 11 -48 is basically the same gun as the Sportsman 48. Except it has holds 4 shells in the magazine of the model A. Forend is not grooved. Made 1949 - 69. I am currently looking for a replacement for my grandad's sportsman 48 12 ga only because the bbl broke.
