Raises TV off unit giving great position for the centre speaker, and potentially getting a pass on the high TV. Then puts it in a cupboard… offset. And the only way you can actually use it is to leave the cupboard door open ... just hanging like that all the time.

My general thought is that people want to center their tv on the wall for esthetics and so they end up mounting too high. Or just simply don’t think about it while they are doing it and mount the tv at eye level while standing. This also includes a tv that can be seen from the kitchen so it would be eye level as they are preparing or cooking ... upvotes ·comments. TVs that are too high. MembersOnline. I tried my best. The center of the TV should be level with your eyeline. So if your eyeline is 110cm from the floor, and the TV is 80cm high (somewhat accurate for 65” TV), then 70cm on the lower edge of the TV is correct. If your couch is a bit higher and your eyeline is 130cm then the lower edge of your TV should be 90cm from the floor. 21 votes, 67 comments. 169K subscribers in the TVTooHigh community. My advice, put it at TV height, so about a 10 inches lower than it currently is. Eye level should be within the lower 3rd of the screen. Some may prefer midpoint depending on size. Sit on your sofa and look straight ahead. Place the tv accordingly.

Although, the wall I'm suggesting for the TV might get too much outdoor light depending on whether that window is facing east or west - so glare could be an issue at certain times. The chair rail (vestigial, but nice) would also be in the way of many mounting bracket designs. Overall, this room isn't a great layout for watching TV.
