Dan T Copper BB Hi all- I was hoping someone could help me date my Light 12 the number on the back of the receiver reads as followed 1G and below that is 33899.It is a 12 ga Browning A5, plain barrel, 2 3/4",made in belgium. It has Browning Arms Company St Louis Mo on top of barrel. Serial #42xx with a lighter stamped ' M ' above it. This is on bottom and forward of receiver. Barrel serial # is 2xx with an F above it. Matching last three numbers on receiver.IMO, your 12ga A-5 apparently has an altered serial number (illegal to buy/sell/possess under US Federal Law, barring an exemption letter from BATF).
